With some confusion over the Dyno challenge being part of the event, the scoring committee has decided to NOT include points from the dyno challenge into the final numbers.

With quite a few impressive times, NCSU #23 finished with a new track record of 25.86 seconds, with Clemson #71 coming in a close second at 26.20 seconds, tying with the Southern Polytechnic home record!

As for the dyno competition, amazing numbers were put down with Clemson #71 making an impressive 57.18whp, SPSU turning 50.91whp, Georgia Tech #67 making 35.71whp, and Mississippi state doing a partial run of 25.3whp. Error can be concluded as roughly 30% lower than what was read according to technicians through DynoLab in Marietta.

SPSU Motorsports is proud to be hosting their first ever Dyno Day on Saturday, January 5th. The event will be hosting the best Formula SAE, microracers, karting, and off-road vehicles in the southeast. With over 120 internet websites advertising the event, 10 local sponsors, and various community support, the event is sure to be a huge hit! Used in the past for testing and development of past formula, electric, and student projects vehicles, the DynoJet chassis dynamometer will be open to all vehicles with up to a 64" wheelbase and a 1000 lb drive axle weight. 

The crew here at SPSU Motorsports is no less than ecstatic to see what kind of crazy things will roll onto the dynomometer during the chilly January weather. With the exploits of fast cars, the smell of combusting race fuel, and the sounds of exotic vehicles, who could blame them?

Good news everyone, the team has registered for our second competition for our 2013 car, and we are heading out to Lincoln, Nebraska in June, five weeks after Michigan!

This will be the teams first time competing in two competitions in one year and we are all very excited. We plan to take what we learn from the east coast competition and hopefully breeze through west coast competition. Everyone here in the shop is very excited to to be going.

As the checkard flag dropped at this years Petit Le Mans, SPSU Motorsports would like to send out a huge thank you to everyone that came out and said hello to the team down on vendor row. The turn out was great this year, with alumini coming to say high and see how the team has progressed and grown. We had visitors from parents, future students, current students, grandparents, vendors, other colleges SAE teams, potential sponsors, and so many more. It was 5 days of perfect weather and getting to share with others what we love and do best, go fast!

A lot came out of this years race with students getting offered jobs, companies showing interest in the team for sponsorships, and even a possible southeast invitational that was being tossed around by a stuart of the Circuit of Americas in Austin Texas. Very promising things to come this year. Stay tuned to see what else happens!

Freshman Training is now over, and its finally time to start building the 2013 car. On top of this news, registration for Michigan has been completed and our car number has been given to us.

The 2013 car is officially the #41!!

The frame has been completed and sent out to Cartesian for notching, cutting, and bending and within the next week or so, we will have a box full of tubes that will comprise our 2013 frame. This is a busy time for us with procuring parts and starting assembly, with a projected first drive of the new car this winter. We are all very excited to get started with this new car and appreciate all the help from Sponsors to freshman, every bit counts!

I would also like to add that our website is undergoing some changes and upgrades, so we appreciate everyone being patient with us as we sort it out and improve the design and navigation for all.

Fall semester 2012 is in full swing and things are picking up at the shop. Space Is getting tight as cars are running on the dyno, getting regular maintenance, and prototypes are getting tested for the 2013 car. The team is seeing a good turn out from the freshman, and will be offering freshman training courses for the new guys on our normal Monday meetings. We encourage all to come out and participate. The design for the 2013 car is coming close to being completed, allowing the car to under go construction in the next few weeks.

Things are picking up in the shop and we appreciate all who make it out and come visit. 2012/2013 will be a good year for the team. Looking forward to what comes next.
 

Southern Poly Motorsports competed in FSAE Michigan. The 2012 car competed in every event including the grueling endurance event. Zach Houston ran the car at 4.507 seconds in the 75 meter acceleration event yielding 25th. Overall Southern Poly Motorsports placed 47 out of 117 teams from around the world. It's February and the car is coming together quite quickly.  Parts have been steadily rolling in, fabrication is steadily making progress, and testing will soon be under way. Thanks to our new sponsorship with NOS, the team here at SPSU Motorsports should have no problem turning and machining parts during the wee hours of the night. A special thanks from the Officers to our members for all of the hard work, we can't wait to start testing and tuning!

Christmas vacation has started, but we here at SPSU Motorsports are burning the proverbial midnight oil.The car is coming together nicely and should be rolling before the start of the spring semester.

Some of the projects we are currently working on are:

• Seat- The full seat mold is having the final touches put on it. It will be super comfortable for all sizes of drivers.
• Hubs- This is what the wheel attaches to. The are being machined as I'm typing this.
• Spacers- These are very important to keep are suspension straight and rigid. These are also being machined as I type this.

As you can see we are working overtime with all of this free time without classes.

After an intense registration battle, SPSU Motorsports is officially registered for the Michigan Race in May of 2012. 

The new car is the #68 and we hope to compete for the top spot! Stay tuned for our progress in the next few weeks!

We are very excited about all of the new parts and members and we encourage you to come see us and think about making the commitment to join the SPSU Motorsports FSAE Team.

In the future we plan on having an entire line of clothing for our members to wear and represent in their daily lives. 4 Lathes, 2 Haas CNC Machines, and a TIG Welder, 
are all working toward one goal, building the 2012 SPSU FSAE Car. The 2012 SPSU FSAE Car is coming together perfectly. Welding of the frame has been going on for a couple of days now and is looking more and more like a winner each day. Months of design are now coming to life and it's a very exciting time to be part of the team right now. We have had a lot of interest from incoming Freshman and can't wait until the semester starts and we meet the future designers and leaders of SPSU Motorsports.
